1990’s Design Mistake

Dec 31, 2021 | Transformation Stories

Our client Karen loved the scale of the pair of bedside stands at her mother’s Florida home, and always knew that her mom bought quality furniture. When her mother downsized into a retirement home the bachelor chests landed in Karen’s garage. “These are just perfect, but my mom and I have very different styles”, Karen said.

I explained the various options including our ability to repaint in a lacquer finish or go back to a wood tone. The real question was, what was beneath the current paint

Thankfully this is something I was happy to answer for her!

Once the pieces were at the Finish Pros refinishing studio and I geared up with the proper safety equipment; I began stripping the finish. I was blown away that Karen’s mom had been hiding beautiful mahogany banded inlaid wood beneath the “artistic paint”. These are the types of pieces that truly excite me!
